1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Edge ("the App"), you agree to these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. What the App Is

Edge is an independent, open-source, local-first fitness and wellness companion application released under the MIT License. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by WHOOP, Inc. or any other third party whose hardware it may be compatible with. Source code: https://github.com/OpenStrap/edge.

3. Not a Medical Device / No Medical Advice

The App is intended for general wellness and fitness tracking only. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition. Metrics displayed (recovery, strain, sleep, and related scores) are estimates derived from published research methods applied to sensor data from your paired hardware — they are approximations, not clinical measurements, and should never be used as a substitute for professional medical judgment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider regarding your health.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the App. If you are using the App on behalf of a minor, you represent that you have the authority to do so.

5. Your Responsibilities

• You are solely responsible for your use of the App, any hardware you pair with it, and any exercise or activity decisions you make based on information the App provides.
• Physical activity carries inherent risk. You assume all risk associated with exercise and activity undertaken using information from the App.
• You are responsible for maintaining any account credentials, API keys, or backend configuration you choose to supply (e.g., for the optional AI Coach feature).

6. Third-Party Services

The App uses Firebase (Google) for anonymous crash/error and performance monitoring (Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, Analytics). This is on by default and can be turned off at any time in Settings — see the Privacy Policy for details. It never includes your health data.

Certain other, optional features rely on third-party services you separately configure or consent to, including:

• An optional AI Coach feature, which sends data you choose to share to a third-party AI provider (by default, OpenAI) using an API key you supply.
• Optional integration with your device's native health platform (Apple Health / Google Health Connect).

These are off by default and require your explicit action to enable. The App's maintainers are not responsible for the practices, availability, or output of third-party services you choose to connect.

7. No Warranty

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. THE MAINTAINERS DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT ANY METRIC IT DISPLAYS IS ACCURATE.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE APP'S MAINTAINERS AND CONTRIBUTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, HEALTH OUTCOME, OR PERSONAL INJURY, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

9. Open Source License

The App's source code is released under the MIT License. See https://github.com/OpenStrap/edge/LICENSE for full terms governing use, modification, and redistribution of the code itself. These Terms govern your use of the App as a product/service; the MIT License separately governs the underlying code.

10. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.
